The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards.This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.

  SVHC is a substance (identified by the European Chemicals Agency) that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. SVHC are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:
  1.  Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC or in category 1a or 1b in accordance with EC No 1272/2008This directive was recently replaced by the new EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
  2.  Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, or

To avoid overexposure, open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase fresh air, or wear respiratory protection (NIOSH/MSHA TC 23 or equivalent) or leave the area. Adequate ventilation required when sanding or abrading the dried film. If adequate ventilation cannot be provided, wear an approved particulate respirator (NIOSH/MSHA N TC 21 or equivalent). Follow respirator manufacturer directions for respirator use. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash hands after using. Keep container closed when not in use. Do not transfer contents to other container for storage. First Aid: Eye contact, flush thoroughly with large amounts of water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately. Delayed effects from Long Term Overexposure. Abrading or sanding of the dry film may release crystalline silicate which has been shown to cause lung damage and cancer under long term exposure.     • Acute health effects

      From MSDS Effects of Overexposure: Irritation of eyes, skin and upper respiratory system. In a confined area vapors in high concentration may cause headache, nausea or dizziness. Redness and itching or burning sensation may indicate eye or excessive skin exposure.

    • Chronic health effects

      MSDS: Crystalline silica (quartz, cristobalite) is listed by IARC and NTP. Long term exposure to high levels of silica dust, which can occur only when sanding or abrading the dry film, may cause lung damage (silicosis) and possibly lung cancer.

    • Carcinogenicity

      MSDS: Crystalline silica is listed by IARC and NTP. Rats exposed to titanium dioxide dust at 250 mg/m3 developed lung cancer, however, such exposure levels are not attainable in the workplace.

    • Handling information

      MSDS: Keep container closed when not in use. Transfer only to approved containers with complete and appropriate labeling. Do not take internally. Keep out of the reach of children.

    • Disposal information

      MSDS: Incinerate in approved facility. Do not incinerate closed container. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding pollution.
